You can watch me draw this here: [link]
I probably won't do it very often since my PC can barely handle it.

Everything is done in Photoshop Elements 3. It's just the brush tool and my hand.

3? I hope you got that when it came out because apparently a program outdated by 4 version updates costs more than the latest model. But a brush tool, don't tell me you mouse paint. That's a short road to carpal tunnel.

It came free with my Wacom. I use a pen stylus for the drawing and painting bits.

I wish I had one of those. I'd be able to cut out that middle man scanner and just truck on by. Think I should pony up for the updated version?

Updated version of Photoshop? I'm not sure. I use 3 because I didn't have to buy it. I tried to use 5 once but it's changed so much it would take me too long to relean. I expect it would be fine for you if you were going in clean though. I've heard that some of the shareware art programs are just as good, but that hasn't been my experience.

I think you'd probably be really pleased with a Wacom kind of thing though. It takes a while to get used to, but it can save lots of time in the long run if you stick with it. There are even some other brands that are inexpensive (relatively speaking) and just about as good.

I don't have the brand names handy since my fave links were wiped, but I'm sure you could Google your way to a good deal.

Anyway, I hope that helps in some way.
