Sometimes it's hard to say...

Fri Nov 28, 2008, 6:43 PM
that I'm proud to be an American. [link]

An excerpt from the AP:

A Wal-Mart worker was killed Friday after an "out of control" throng of shoppers eager for post-Thanksgiving bargains broke down the doors at a suburban store and knocked him to the ground, police said.

At least four other people, including a woman eight months pregnant, were taken to hospitals for observation or minor injuries, and the store in Valley Stream on Long Island closed for several hours before reopening.

Nassau police said about 2,000 people were gathered outside the store doors at the mall about 20 miles east of Manhattan. The impatient crowd knocked the man to the ground as he opened the doors, leaving a metal portion of the frame crumpled like an accordion

32, so your estimate is pretty close. When I was a kid test scores were regularly in the top 3 worldwide, then when I was in my late teens they really started to drop fast. Now they're just pathetic.

Yeah, Americans are a dangerous kind of people on average. Proud of our stupidity, and angry for no reason.

Man, I really love the "...and customers stepped over him and became irate when officials said the store was closing because of the death, police and witnesses said." Part in the main article. Reminds me of the article I read a while back about a gas station getting robbed, the clerk getting shot, and people stepping over him to get into the store while he bled to death it the doorway.

Some people really make me sick.

And when the end times come, everything we think we know will be proven wrong... and the Suffering we all feel inside will show itself in the rape of the people.

Well blame all that on the "No child left behind act". It's basically esrivicated ur school system. Maybe test scores were always pathetic. Maybe america hasn't changed the rest of the owrld has just got its shit otgether.

It wasn't any one thing that caused the decline of American excellence. It's the result of many small changes over time, nearly all made in the intrest of the common good. As so often is the case the most damage was done with the best of intentions. Eventually someone will realize what needs to be done to repair the system, and things will slowy start to swing the other way again.

It really is hard to keep a positive view of humanity in light of such tragic events.

You'd think someone would remember this stuff and take a few precautions... It just makes my head throb.
