Debated.

Sat Apr 18, 2009, 11:29 PM
As I putz around DA I've noticed that people are very polarized about the whole "should I comment if I fave" thing. I don't care where anybody else stands. As far as me goes, you can fave my whole gallery and never say a damn thing. The fave is more than enough.

I look at a lot of art, but I rarely have anything whorthwhile to say about it. In my head it's like "this picture makes me happy ergo I will fave it."

Nothing deeper.

No sililoquies about the nature of mankind, or the theory of color. Perhaps you are like me in that respect. I understand. If you have something to say, that's cool too. Even if all you want to note is that a character is anatomically pleasing to you. I sympathize. I wouldn't have drawn it if some part of me didn't feel that way too.

The internet can be a scary place. Sometimes having to say something is just too much. I'm not going to jump all up in your shit if you don't have well thought out opinions of my work. Liking it at all is just fine.

Sounds to me like we're the same person.

However I do try to leave a comment when I can come up with one.

I feel the same for the most part. I don't need you to comment if you fav and vice versa. Just faving says you like what I've drawn and that's enough. If you comment (even if it's a one word comment) I really appreciate that as well.

Still I like commenting on peoples art even if I don't fav it. So I definitely feel like saying something nice about a piece of art I do fav. I guess I hold myself to a standard I don't hold others to.

Still putting into words what you like about a piece of art can be very difficult at times. It's tough to come up with something poignant, funny, clever, complimentary or interesting to say every time. Still by just clicking on that fav button you can say all you need to say without typing a word. :aww:

i comment when something really seems worth commenting. now, my faving habits are a little bit different story- i fav whatever catches my eye, and a lot of things on dA do.

I get you there. Hell, one of the main reasons of my solely running around devwatching people is because I can't comment or fave every dang thing they posted. It's like, the gestalt of awesomeness is pretty flippin' apparent, do I really gotta point it out nearly eleventy billion times out of the bazillion things they've got up?

Hear hear. As if the Internet isn't Serious Business™ enough, right? Between "reporting snipers" and the Censorship Gestapo, we've got enough to worry about. ;3
